Marcos Rojo reps in Argentina to finalise Boca Juniors move: report

Marcos Rojo is looking likelier than ever to leave Manchester United, sealing a transfer to Boca Juniors in the process…

Back on January 28th, we covered a claim from Argentine media outlet Ole, who stated that Marcos Rojo’s exit from Old Trafford was ‘practically set’.

Well now on transfer deadline day, it seems as though the English media is starting to pick up on that story. It comes from Times journalist Paul Hirst.

While summing up United’s transfer deadline day, Hirst claims that the representative of the 30-year-old United star is currently in Argentina, working on a transfer to Boca Juniors.

Rojo, who is trying to seal a move away due to a lack of playing time, may well be returning home. However, there’s no rush to complete a deal as the Argentine window doesn’t actually close until February 19th.

Check out Paul Hirst’s tweet on the situation here:

Let’s be honest, Rojo just hasn’t been good enough for Manchester United. Sure, we’ve seen his passion and aggression on more than one occasion, though ability-wise, he’s just not up to scratch.

It’s also worth considering that Rojo is never able to keep fit for a prolonged period of time. It’s somewhat acceptable when you’re as talented as, say, Eric Bailly, but with respect, Rojo isn’t even close to his Ivorian teammate in that regard.

A move back to his home country feels like a great situation for everyone. Rojo will be playing regularly in his homeland, United would be getting some wages off the books while Boca are getting a player who’d improve their team straight away.

What I find most astounding about this is that Rojo has never been sent off for Manchester United. How mental is that?!
