Marcos Rojo is looking to terminate his Manchester United contract, in order to secure a move elsewhere.
Manchester United’s Argentine defender just hasn’t played at all under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Sure, injuries have played their part, though the Baby Faced Assassin just doesn’t seem to fancy the centre-half as a player at all.
This is someone who is constantly being talked up as a potential departure from the Theatre of Dreams, yet for whatever reason, he just keeps on surviving like a cat with nine lives.
Now, those exit stories are resurfacing again, with the claim coming from Argentine journalist Nahuel Ferreira. Apparently, Mexican side Cruz Azul recently opened talks to try and sign Rojo, though no final decision or agreement has been reached yet.
One thing does seem clear, though. Rojo wants out of Manchester United. So-much-so that the Reds star is seeking to terminate his contract at Old Trafford. Understandably, his current deal won’t be renewed or extended.
The £80k-a-week star (Sportrac) is attracting interest from the aforementioned Cruz Azul, though it’s Boca Juniors who are the ‘most advanced’ side in the hunt to sign Rojo.
Manchester United just need Rojo off their books
At this point, Rojo is nothing but a bystander at Old Trafford. The sooner he leaves, the better it’ll be for all involved.
Rojo is at the stage in his career where he needs to be playing regularly. Unfortunately, he simply cannot do that at the highest level anymore, hence why a move to South America makes perfect sense.
It’s a real shame in all honesty. Rojo is a player who came to United with promise aplenty and he does have all the attributes of a top-quality centre-half. It’s just that he lacked any real consistency both in terms of keeping fit and maintaining a constant position in the team.
