Marcus Rashford and Erik ten Hag are not on speaking terms, according to the latest information.
Just yesterday, we discussed Marcus Rashford’s Manchester United future. Let’s be honest, at this point it feels finely balanced. The Englishman has struggled on the field, with fans now starting to realise that he’s actually not putting in the required effort right now…
Time and time again, we’ve watched Rashford amble around the park without a care in the world, looking completely disinterested in tracking back and putting in the effort. That has led to questions about a possible sale this summer.
The Sun have provided an update on Rashford, claiming that the player himself will ‘resist’ any attempts from United to get him out of the club. After all, that is his right, he is under contract at Old Trafford.
However, what’s most interesting about The Sun’s article is the information they have about Rashy’s relationship with manager Erik ten Hag.
According to their information, the United star and Ten Hag have a relationship that has ‘broken down’, while the pair now ‘barely speak’. Obviously, that’s far from ideal and it could be partly why Ten Hag would be willing to let Rashford leave.
At the end of the day, I will always be player over manager. No solo footballer is bigger than the boss of the club. That’s just the way it should be.
Perhaps Rashford is hoping to wait it out in the event that Ten Hag loses his job this summer, but this is just another example of player power becoming overbearing. This United dressing room has gotten several managers sacked at this point. Blatantly, they’re not afraid to do it again. It’s definitely part of the problem.
Let’s hope INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe are willing to fix that, by proving that no player is unsellable. If the right offer comes in for Rashy, I’d certainly at least consider cashing in and moving on from him.
