Marcus Rashford has been ruled out of England’s next couple of fixtures after picking up a knock.

Manchester United probably made it a little harder than they had to against Fulham at the weekend, performing at a level far below their best.

Eventually, a minute of madness from the Fulham lads swung the pendulum back in our favour. United took full advantage and booked their place in the final four – where Brighton await…

However, the game wasn’t without a casualty. According to the official club website, Marcus Rashford picked up a problem in the dying embers of that game. He had to be subbed off with the issue, replaced by Fred in the 83rd minute.

According to the club, the United star is now ‘forced to withdraw’ from international duty after picking up the knock. He’ll no longer link up with his England teammates over the next fortnight.

We haven’t really been given any solid evidence in regard to the severity of the problem, though the fact that it’s only described as a knock suggest it’s something minor – rather than anything long-term.

At the end of the day, if this problem isn’t too bad, this could turn into a positive for United. Rashford now gets some time off to rest up and heal ahead of a crucial run-in across three competitions. United have to finish inside the top four, while they have the chance to win two more trophies.

It goes without saying, Rashford is crucial to any success this side will have. His goals, assists and general directness cause problems for any back line in the world. We need him as close to 100% as possible.

Get well soon Rashy!
