Man United could be about to lose their homegrown hero, Marcus Rashford, this summer…
We’ve said it countless times in the lead-up to our summer, but a major overhaul is certainly going to happen. Several players will leave while a new manager will also be appointed.
It’s vital that the Old Trafford club get this next hire absolutely right, while bringing in players who fit the new style of play. One man who I thought would spend the next decade at this club, whoever is in charge, was Marcus Rashford. Recent reports have claimed otherwise.
Now, Football Insider have had their say on the Rashford situation – and it’s not good news… Apparently, the 24-year-old United superstar has ‘told friends’ he ‘wants to quit’ and leave the club this summer.
Rashford has slipped onto the fringes of things at United under Ralf Rangnick, with the Englishman also losing his place in the latest Three Lions squad.
A source close to the player has told Football Insider that Rashford is ready to ‘sever his ties’ with his boyhood club, in an effort to ‘reignite his career’. Furthermore, United’s number ten has spoken to his inner circle about his lack of minutes, identifying a ‘new challenge’ as his best option going forward.
Honestly, I’m surprised. Rashford has struggled this season but his overall time at United has been hugely promising. I don’t get how a bad few months can suddenly want Rashford to leave the club he supported as a lad.
I’d like to think that given a good run in the side or a full pre-season this summer, Rashford would be back to his best. However, if he doesn’t want to be here, then I’d let him go regardless of his stature.
Personally, a move abroad would be the best option if Rashford does depart. FC Barcelona are apparently keen. I still hope that this is just paper talk but more and more sources seem to be talking up the possibility that Rashford genuinely wants out. Which tells you everything you need to know about where the club is at right now…
