Man United’s Marcus Rashford is looking to start afresh under Erik ten Hag.
It goes without saying, as a homegrown player, we fans give you that little bit of extra wiggle room. In 2021/22, a large portion of the fanbase gave up hope on Marcus Rashford.
Nobody can ever doubt his talent. Rather, Rashford’s application came into question. Come the end of the campaign, his confidence looked completely shot. There were even rumours suggesting he wanted a move away from his beloved United.
Well, the summer break seems to have worked wonders for Wythenshawe’s finest, with Rashford actually getting a full summer off for the first time in his career.
A recent article from The Times goes into great detail about the lengths Rashford is going to ahead of the 2022/23 season under a new manager.
From travelling across America to work with some elite-level coaches, to build up both his fitness and skill, to making a great first impression.
Sources told The times that Rashford looked ‘incredibly focused’ at Carrington last month. I guess when you consider his Reds career could be on the line, it makes sense.
To add to that, the United star was named as one of the ‘best performers’ in the second of two ‘punishing’ Ten Hag training sessions in the Thailand heat on Monday. He looked ‘toned and sharp’, leaping in the air to nod home a perfect cross from Jadon Sancho in training.
From what I’ve read, Ten Hag’s training sessions are pretty brutal. Make a mistake and you’ll be punished for it. Though impress, you’ll be praised in equal measure. Ten Hag demands perfection. Ten Hag demands energy and the correct mindset. I’m all here for it.
Rashford always gives off the vibe as someone who’d flourish under the right manager. Though he needs to be pushed every step of the way. Ten Hag will absolutely do that day-in-day-out and I’m genuinely excited to see if the English forward can take that next step under the tutelage of the 52-year-old.
The early signs are certainly positive!
