Erik ten Hag has confirmed the injury Marcus Rashford suffered isn’t a serious problem.
The 2023/24 season was defined by injuries for Manchester United. Erik ten Hag was working with one hand tied behind his back at times, making his job that much harder.
Sadly, pre-season has kicked off in a similar vein. Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund are out for the foreseeable after picking up issues in the game against Arsenal.
United picked up a couple more issues in the game against Real Betis, with both Antony and Marcus Rashford coming off with problems. This morning, Ten Hag has provided an update on the latter.
Thankfully, it’s good news for United, as their injury fears have been allayed somewhat, with Ten Hag claiming that the star’s problem is ‘not too bad’. Rashford should ‘progress quickly’ from the issue, the Dutchman told The Guardian.
With United looking light in the final third right now, this is great news. Rashford himself is aiming for a huge bounce-back season after a disappointing 2023/24 campaign. He needs all the pre-season minutes he can get in order to help restore that confidence and self-belief.
Whether or not Rashford will be fit enough to play against Liverpool on Saturday night in the United States is another matter entirely. I’d be surprised if he’s risked for that one, though I fully believe the Englishman will be good to go in the Community Shield a week later.
I still firmly believe that a fully fit and firing Rashford is among United’s most important players. He’s more than capable of claiming over 30+ goal contributions per season and we’re going to need him to get close to that mark this time around.
