Marcus Rashford injury return date provided by Solskjaer

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given us the latest news on Marcus Rashford, providing a return date from injury.

Marcus Rashford hobbled through the 2020/21 season, dealing with a whole host of different problems. Shoulder, back and ankle issues mostly.

The Englishman still heavily contributed to what was a pretty decent season for Manchester United. However, Rashford was always going to have to go under the knife at some point.

That’d happen towards the end of July, with Rashford not expected back out on the field until late-October.

Rashford has since been spotted in first-team training as he continues to step up his recovery, leaving us all wondering whether he’d be available sooner than we all thought. Sadly, that won’t be the case.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given a return date for Rashford following injury to the key United star – with the gaffer not expecting to see him until after the October international break.

“I don’t think we’ll see Marcus until after the international break but Alex has worked well and will be in the squad as well.” Solskjaer told official club media.

That break takes place after United take on Everton on October 2nd, with the Reds returning to action against Leicester City on October 16th. That fortnight is when Rashford will hopefully be stepping up his recovery, while the rest of the United squad are representing their country.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Taking the cautious approach here always felt wise. United are going to need Rashford over that hectic winter schedule and rushing him back too soon would have been the worst thing the Reds could have done.

Let him rest up and recover fully and when he’s fit again, we’ll be getting a Rashford back at his best rather than a half-healthy one.

If that means waiting a couple more weeks then so be it. It’s easy to forget just how spectacular a Rashford in full flow is – and I can’t wait to see him get back to that form.
