Marcus Rashford ‘keen on a new challenge’, wants to leave Man United

Marcus Rashford is being targeted by PSG, with the player more than considering a move…

Just when you think Manchester United’s mess couldn’t get any worse…

Erik ten Hag is already working with a super thin squad due to the fact that the club haven’t delivered the Dutch manager the signings he wants. With time running out in the window, the Red Devils have every right to panic about this situation.

Well, the mood around the place could be about to get even worse. According to Julien Laurens, one Man United star is ‘keen on a new challenge’, with contacts already taking place. We’re talking about Marcus Rashford, who has just one year left on his deal, meaning United’s hand could well be forced…

Rashford is United through and through. He grew up a fan of this club just like we all did. I genuinely believe he went to bed dreaming about winning major honours for his boyhood club.

However, the Glazer ownership, coupled with a pretty torrid year, has halted those plans. Rashford, understandably, is thinking about himself first and foremost.

I’d honestly like to see him stay, though I do feel like a move away may be best for all involved. His struggles have been evident of late, though I still believe there’s a top-class player in there.

The fact that he’s close mates with Jesse Lingard absolutely doesn’t help United’s case. The former Red Devil has been vocal about the way United treated him, Dean Henderson followed a similar path. No doubt they’re whispering in Rashford’s ear telling him to make the leap, too.

I just don’t envision a scenario in which United accept any bid for Rashford, unless it’s way beyond the £100m mark. His value off the pitch probably usurps what he does on the field for the Glazers. Hence why if Rashford leaves, it’ll probably be on a free transfer when his contract winds down.

It’s worth noting at this point the club have the option to extend Rashford’s contract by a further year, meaning he’ll be here until at least the summer of 2024.
