Marcus Rashford dropped a poor performance vs Liverpool last night, with Roy Keane amongst his critics.
Well, it wasn’t a vintage game at Anfield yesterday, though credit to Manchester United, who never gave up.
In the end, a point was probably a fair result – and one that everyone felt somewhat content with. Defensively, United were brilliant. However, our problems came at the other end…
Bruno Fernandes tried to create but struggled, while Anthony Martial was a non-factor once again. It’s Marcus Rashford who is copping the most flak from fans and pundits alike this morning, though…
The Englishman just looked a little jaded and tired. The effort wasn’t as high as it usually is, while the passing, particularly in those key moments, was just too sloppy.
Reds legend Roy Keane also felt the same way, with the former United midfielder left disappointed with the United star for his poor display. Keano actually went as far as stating that he ‘never turned up’.
Check out what Keane had to say on Rashford vs Liverpool:
“Rashford, for me, never turned up, Fernandes didn’t play that well either but they still created the best two chances in the game.” Keane said live on Sky Sports, per the Manchester Evening News.
The problem for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is this. Games are coming thick and fast. He needs his star players to play week-in-week-out and their bodies are now starting to feel the pressure. That’s only natural.
Now, our Baby Faced Assassin has a massive decision to make. Does he rest key players for the game against Fulham this week? Or does he make those changes in the FA Cup against Liverpool at the weekend?
Personally, I’d prefer to see a changed side for the cup game against our Merseyside rivals, but the temptation to risk dropping points in the league and making changes on Wednesday must be weighing on Solskjaer’s mind.
For now, it’s about Rashford hopefully finding form sooner rather than later.
