Marcus Rashford reacts as he makes first appearance in three months

Marcus Rashford has sent a message to the fans upon a successful return to action.

Manchester United Football Club have had to start this campaign without one of their homegrown heroes. Marcus Rashford went under the knife in July, as he’d been dealing with a number of injury issues.

Back, shoulder, ankle. Rashford fought through the pain barrier to represent club and country, knowing full well he’d have to have surgery eventually.

In the end, that would happen before the start of 2021/22, meaning he was always going to miss at least a few months of action. Well, I’m pleased to report Rashford made a successful return yesterday – playing in a behind-closed doors friendly against Blackburn Rovers, scoring twice in the process.

Shortly after, the United star sent a message to the fans, admitting it felt ‘so good’ to play his first match in three months following injury.

Having not played since the EURO 2020 final, this must have been a supremely nice moment for Rashford. Obviously, this is just the start of a long journey and it’s going to be a fair while before we see the Englishman starting week-in-week-out. It’s just good to see him back out there.

It’s easy to forget just how important Rashford is to this team. He’s a supremely influential individual who contributed to over 30 goals last term while practically playing on one knee half the time.

Getting Rashy back, fully fit, is going to be just another weapon at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s disposal. The good news is we’re now less reliant on the 23-year-old, which is only a good thing for the whole squad.

For Rashford, it’s about getting back to 100% fitness as quickly as possible, then making his usual positive impact both on and off the field.

It’s good to see you back, Rashy!
