Sometimes, football hurts. Manchester United fans are feeling the most pain they’ve felt in the best part of three decades at the moment.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is down to the bare bones in terms of squad depth, while the tactics, performances and overall team output just hasn’t been good enough.
For us supporters, it has been a real struggle watching us play over the last month or so. Unfortunately, that doesn’t look like changing anytime soon.
Sometimes, it’s easy to forget that there are some United fans within that dressing room, too – with Marcus Rashford right at the front of that queue.
Well, today, Rashford took to Twitter to send the fans a message from the heart. He admits that it simply hasn’t been good enough over the last few weeks, before adding that we deserve better.
I appreciate the sentiment and comments. This only endears him further to the Old Trafford faithful. At the end of the day, he’s one of us.
However, actions speak louder than words. We’ve seen players say something similar after every poor loss over the last few years, and we’re yet to see anything change on the field.
Rashford himself is in extremely poor form at the moment – which is further raising questions about what exactly his best position is. Against Newcastle, he barely had a kick, though that’s not all his own doing.
We need to expect better, we appreciate the words, though now it’s time to go out there and prove it with your feet – starting with Liverpool in a fortnight’s time.
