Well that was a bit of a struggle, wasn’t it? Manchester United’s case wasn’t helped due to injuries decimating the squad in the first-half, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer forced into making all three substitutes.
Marcus Rashford was struggling, too, but his huge heart meant that he forced himself through the match; competing right until the final whistle.
It was a real show of courage from the Wythenshawe-born-forward, who knows just how much a Manchester United – Liverpool game means to the Old Trafford faithful.
Honestly, it would have been easy for him to just throw in the towel and ask to come off, but credit where it’s due, he never stopped working. He never gave up.
After the game, Rashford took to Twitter to send a message of thanks to the Theatre of Dreams crowd, who ensured the atmosphere was bouncing to spur the home players on.
I’d be surprised if Rashford is fit and ready to take on Crystal Palace in midweek, which leaves Solskjaer massively short in terms of numbers, but hopefully, he can get himself back for United’s next home game against Southampton in around a week.
Thanks for the effort, Marcus! We massively appreciate it!
