Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford is set for a demotion on the international scene, according to the Daily Express. The report says that the 18-year-old striker will be dropped down to U21 level, despite being involved with the squad that went to France for the European Championships.
That’s because Jose Mourinho hasn’t given him any minutes at all this season, and it makes him selecting the forward harder. This will obviously be a bitter pill for Rashford to swallow if true, having already had his big chance at the highest of stages.
Whilst is is a concern, you would have to accept the decision. However, if Allardyce is hoping to move this squad forward, he has to put massive faith in the talented starlets that this country has to offer; Rashford is without doubt one of the biggest players to emerge on the scene over the last twelve months.
It seems a bit daft that Big Sam is ready to knock Rashford down to the U21s without playing, but he’ll be more than happy in letting Joe Hart continue in the senior squad. At least our young forward impressed out in France, whereas Hart made error after error, inevitably costing England their place in the competition.
