Marcus Rashford set to be dropped from England squad: report

Marcus Rashford will not be involved in England’s next couple of games.

Manchester United Football Club have been playing better under Ralf Rangnick, though the Manchester derby taught us all that there’s still much work ahead.

This squad needs a major overhaul, while some serious fan favourites and homegrown heroes need to start asking themselves some hard questions.

One man who fits into that category is Marcus Rashford. The Englishman missed the first few months of the season with injury, but hasn’t really looked like the same player since returning.

He wasn’t given the start in the derby on Sunday, despite the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani not being fit. That alone is damning.

Now, the United star is set to be dropped from the England international squad after his poor form, ESPN report.

A Three Lions squad will be named next week, with Rashford now not looking likely to get a call-up due to his recent performances.

Honestly, I cannot defend Rashford of late. The performances have been nothing but horrendous and it just winds me up to hear reports suggest he’s ‘considering his future’.

I love Rashford. He’s an absolute hero for what he’s done for the whole United Kingdom over the last couple of years, but his football hasn’t been good enough – and he should know and accept that.

Far too many times it just looks like he’s running down a blind alley before giving the ball away needlessly. After watching that unfold multiple times in a game, it gets frustrating as a fan.

I just don’t think Rashy deserves a spot in the England setup right now, but that said, I do think he’ll rediscover his best before the end of the season. Hopefully, sooner rather than later if we’re going to make any sort of push to finish in the top four…
