Manchester United could be without Marcus Rashford for the start of the 2021/22 campaign.
As we all know, Marcus Rashford has been dealing with all sorts of niggling injuries over the last twelve months. The Manchester United forward’s commitment to the cause, putting his body on the line, has to be commended.
However, it could come back to bite both United and Rashford on the behind. According to the Daily Star in their headline, it’s claimed that the United star is ‘set to miss’ the start of the season with injury.
The Star add that United have been dealt a ‘huge blow’ with Rashford confirming he could miss the beginning of the term due to an ongoing shoulder problem.
Rashford will not be leaving international duty early, that much is obvious. However, upon his return to Manchester, Rashford could undergo surgery on the affected area.
If he does go under the knife, the 23-year-old could be sidelined for up to six weeks.
As we all know, Rashford has been struggling for ages now and the sooner he gets this shoulder fixed, the better. It’s pretty grim watching him grab at his arm and shoulder every time he goes into a crunching tackle and the long-term effects of that could do him so much more harm.
These injuries could explain the reason why Rashford was playing poorly for United at the end of the campaign. It could also be why Gareth Southgate has used him pretty sparingly this summer.
Personally, if Rashford isn’t used against Germany, if I were United, I’d consider pulling him from the squad (if they can) and get him under the knife as quickly as possible.
The problem is, Rashford loves England and he won’t want to come back while his Three Lions teammates are still battling it out for the EURO 2020 title.
Sadly, for United, this is a lose-lose situation.
