Marcus Rashford set to sign new long-term Man United contract: report

In a relatively quiet summer so far for Manchester United, the Red Devils are set to get a huge boost from one of their homegrown heroes.

According to the usually reliable Times, Marcus Rashford is to sign a new long-term deal at Old Trafford. Apparently, negotiations are ‘nearing completion’ with the 21-year-old set to put pen to paper – spurning interest from FC Barcelona and Juventus in the process.

Rashford has emerged as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s main man in the striker position as United look to tie the #10 down to a deal, securing his immediate future in the process.

With just over one year left on his current contract, United will be hoping to get this deal done before the 2019/20 campaign kicks off – in order to quash doubts about his future so that shadow isn’t hanging over the club.

Whichever way you dress it up, United need Rashford. He’s their homegrown poster-boy at this point in time and the forward now knows that he has the backing of the club.

It’s now down to the player to prove his worth out on the football field. Personally, I’m fully backing him to do exactly that and start the new season in scintillating form…
