Marcus Rashford to be given opportunity to salvage Man United career

Marcus Rashford is not quite done at Manchester United just yet…

It’s pretty common knowledge that this current Manchester United squad will look a whole lot different next term. Some familiar faces will leave on free transfers, other will be sold due to underwhelming performances.

One player I felt certain would fall into the latter category is Marcus Rashford. The Englishman has struggled for any sort of form all season long, looking a shadow of the player he was the year before, during which he contributed over 30 goals and assists combined.

I always hoped it was a confidence issue, or the fact he was working back from injury. Though come the end of the season, I had little-to-no belief in Rashford rediscovering his best. Simply put, the Englishman didn’t look all that interested.

Well, according to TalkSPORT’s Alex Crook, Rashford will get a chance at redemption here at Old Trafford.

The report states that the 24-year-old will be given the ‘opportunity’ to salvage his Man United career under Erik ten Hag.

At the end of the day, I get it. Rashford is a homegrown hero who the fans love. He’s probably the last player the club would want to see leave given his connection to the supporters.

However, scoring just five goals and contributing no assists just isn’t good enough for a player who expects to start every single week. We, as fans, have every right to expect better than that from our poster boy.

There were whispers of a Rashford move to Arsenal not too long ago, though it looks like the desire of everyone for the striker to remain here in Manchester and get another chance.

At the end of the day, United are looking so thin on the ground in some areas of the field, that this is probably the only option they have. They can’t lose another key face as that’s just one more hole to fill going into an already busy transfer window.

I genuinely do hope that Rashy can turn it round sooner or later. He’s an excellent player on his day who genuinely loves this club. Let’s hope with a full pre-season under his belt and a manager who believes in him can aid the Rashford rejuvenation.

Should Marcus Rashford be given this chance or is it already too far gone? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
