Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have emerged as injury doubts ahead of the Manchester derby this weekend…
It goes without saying, the upcoming Manchester derby is the toughest test for this United side under Erik ten Hag thus far.
Form has returned over the last month or so, with plenty of preparation time for this one due to game postponements coupled with the international break.
This game will be a real struggle at the best of times, though according to The Times, a key United duo have emerged as injury doubts for the derby this time around…
The fixture takes place on Sunday, though neither Anthony Martial nor Marcus Rashford have trained this week, meaning there’s a genuine possibility neither are involved here.
Martial hasn’t been seen since putting in an outstanding half of football against Liverpool early on in the campaign. The Frenchman has been nursing an issue since, which was obviously a huge disappointment given his excellent pre-season.
Rashford’s injury is more recent. The Englishman missed the international break, with everyone hopeful that he’d be fit to play here. Sadly, time is now running out for the in-form man to get himself ready to take on the old enemy.
At this point, it’s looking highly unlikely neither will even be fit enough for a spot on the bench.
United are pretty thin up top at the best of times, so no doubt Ten Hag is feeling somewhat worried going into this match.
It probably means Cristiano Ronaldo will lead the line, while Antony and Jadon Sancho are very likely to start in the wide areas. The only other senior wide option is Anthony Elanga, with Alejandro Garnacho considered a true wildcard, but I’d be surprised if we see the Argentine here.
Get well soon, lads!
