Manchester United players are back in pre-season training following their summer break, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already putting some footballers through their paces at the AON Training Complex.

One face who is yet to come back is Anthony Martial, and according to The Sun, the 23-year-old forward is set to hold talks with Solskjaer when he does return.

Apparently, the Frenchman has ‘grown condemned’ with speculation linking him with a move away from Old Trafford this summer, and he wants a sit down with the manager to see where he sits in plans for the 19/20 campaign.

It’s a tricky situation. Martial has been in and out of the team ever since signing for United, although he did put pen to paper on a new long-term contract back in January.

In an ideal world, Martial will stay and start matches with regularity as when he’s on song, the #11 is borderline unstoppable. The problem is, he constantly blows hot and cold, hence why he’s sometimes left disappointed on the bench.

Solskjaer has made Marcus Rashford his first-choice striker, meaning Martial has been competing to start on the left-wing. That’s a position where United do have options aplenty, so it does make sense that the former AS Monaco man would like some reassurances from the Baby Faced Assassin.

Hopefully, Solskjaer tells Martial what he wants to hear and the French attacker can get back to solely focusing on football.
