Manchester United’s Europa League campaign is now just on the horizon, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer begins his quest to win the tournament the Red Devils lifted back in 2017.
This tournament could perhaps be United’s best shot at securing a place in next season’s Champions League, with the eventual winners given automatic entry into the best tournament on the continent for the 2020/21 campaign.
United’s group draw was kind. Astana are the first opponents tomorrow, with the fans expecting the club to field a youthful line-up. The Old Trafford Faithful may well be about to get their wish.
According to The Sun, United’s teenage starlet, Mason Greenwood, is set to make his first start of the season against the Kazakhstan-based Astana tomorrow.
So far, Greenwood has come on as a sub a few times, but we’re yet to see him get his opportunity from the off. That all changes tomorrow night at the Theatre of Dreams, and what a chance it is for the young man to make his mark.
If pre-season is anything to go by, Greenwood will hit the ground running and begin to make a real name for himself. Hopefully, he’s ready, hungry and clear-minded. A good performance here could stand him in good stead going into the hectic winter schedule.
