Mason Greenwood set for new £25,000-a-week Man United contract: report

Manchester United’s mantra has always been a reliance on youth. Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, we’re slowly but surely rediscovering that identity.

Pre-season tour showcased the embarrassment of riches available at Solskjaer’s disposal. The fountain of youth at Old Trafford isn’t running dry…

Perhaps the best of the bunch is Mason Greenwood. The forward has emerged as a top-class talent, now all that’s left is for him to start playing for the first-team with regularity.

Before that, though, it seems as though United are keen to get Greenwood tied down to a fresh deal. According to The Athletic, the talented 17-year-old is set to sign a new United deal worth around £25,000-a-week.

This is great news as it means his short-term future is secure allowing Greenwood to solely focus on playing football.

The Athletic also add that negotiations will also be opened with Angel Gomes – whose contract expires at the end of this season. Furthermore, James Garner, Tahith Chong, Brandon Williams and Ethan Laird could also expect upgraded deals in the not too distant future.

People say that United haven’t replaced the dead-wood they have cleared out. Perhaps these teenagers are the reason why? We’ve got some immense quality on the books and maybe Solskjaer is just waiting for the opportunity to throw them into the team…
