Man United are set to sell Mason Greenwood to Marseille in a £25m+ deal.
For pretty much the whole duration of the Glazer regime, Manchester United have been notoriously bad sellers in the transfer window. The Old Trafford club have consistently been receiving little-to-no fees for established stars and young talents alike, the knock-on effect it can have can be great.
With Premier League profit and sustainability rules now a real concern for every club in the top tier, United have to become more astute when it comes to selling footballers. Under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, it simply has to change.
United recently earned in excess of £8m for Willy Kambwala which, on the face of it, is decent business. Today, it seems as though another large chunk of money is coming the Reds’ way…
This time around, it’s Mason Greenwood who is set to leave the club permanently.
Fabrizio Romano has provided the update via his X account, claiming that United are set to sell the starlet in a package worth in excess of £25m. The Reds will also have a huge 50% sell-on clause should Greenwood move elsewhere in future.
You know it’s a done deal when Romano gives his trademark ‘here we go!’ phrase.

Greenwood has signed a deal until 2029, which is great news for the young man who is ready for a fresh start.
It felt like a clean break was always going to be the best scenario for all involved parties. Greenwood can now totally concentrate on his football, while United have one less off-field problem to worry about.
On top of that, this is a decent amount of money which can be funnelled back into the playing squad. Be it by signing a direct replacement for Greenwood, or investing the funds in a player like Manuel Ugarte from PSG.
