Mason Greenwood told when he’ll get Man United debut: report

Manchester United’s mantra has always been putting trust in youth. With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer now at the helm, that looks set to continue.

Perhaps the best product at the club right now is Mason Greenwood, although the young attacker is yet to make his first-team debut.

However, according to The Sun, Solskjaer has told the 17-year-old to ‘get ready for Reading’ when United meet The Royals in the FA Cup in early January.

After being an unused substitute for United’s trip to Valencia CF earlier on in December, you always felt that Greenwood’s first-team chance was drawing closer.

Now, it looks as though his opening will come on January 5th when Reading visit Old Trafford.

This is the perfect opportunity for the young man who must be chomping at the bit, and what a chance it is to prove to the world that he is ready to play week-in-week-out football at the highest level.

No doubt he’s hoping to follow in the footsteps of Marcus Rashford who hasn’t looked back since being given his chance by Louis van Gaal, and what a career-defining selection this could be by Solskjaer if Greenwood is impressive from now until the season’s end.
