Mason Mount is now back in Man United training, following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Manchester United’s season has been decimated by injuries so far. The Red Devils have been dealing without many of their key players for multiple months. It goes without saying, that has made Erik ten Hag’s job that much more difficult.

The manager hasn’t once moaned nor used the treatment table woes as an excuse, rather, he’s just getting on with the task at hand. All credit to him for that.

It felt like players had just started to return when the injury bug struck again. Rasmus Hojlund, Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw have all gone down semi-recently.

However, United have been boosted by the return of one star after four months out injured; Mason Mount.

The Englishman had been missing since November, after suffering a problem against Luton Town in the Premier League home game. We haven’t seen him since despite numerous reports suggesting he was on the mend.

Now, the official club website have confirmed that Mount is back in training, with a huge game against Liverpool just on the horizon.

This is a timely return for Mount, who’ll be looking to finish the season strong and remind us all just how talented he is. After so long out, it’s going to be somewhat difficult for the Englishman, though the upcoming international break means he’ll have the best part of three weeks to get back to 100% fitness. It’s highly unlikely we see him in action this weekend.

I still maintain the belief that Mount will be a hugely positive asset for this squad in the long run. His natural ability, energy and overall skill will improve this midfield over the course of a long campaign. Let’s hope the injuries are now behind him, allowing Mount to start to showcase his talent.
