Man United midfielder Mason Mount is now back in the gym as he continues to work his way back from injury.
Manchester United return this weekend, after a two-week hiatus. The Red Devils will be looking to continue their FA Cup run, with an away game against Newport County in the offing.
Rodney Parade will play host to an exciting away day for the Old Trafford Faithful, who’ll be travelling to South Wales to this encounter which is an absolute must win.
Ahead of the tame, Erik ten Hag met the media and delivered the all-important team news. We’ll have more on that later, but first, some good news on Mason Mount.
The club confirmed that the 25-year-old United star is now back doing gym work at Carrington, as he steps up his injury recovery after more than two months out.
Mount hasn’t played since the game against Luton Town on November 11th, with the Englishman continuing to work with the club medical staff, as he looks to make a comeback sooner rather than later.
No doubt Mount’s debut season here in Manchester has not gone according to plan. The ex-Chelsea player has barely played this term, picking up small injury after small injury. No doubt Ten Hag is gutted that he hasn’t been able to call on the midfielder’s services – particularly during those times where the squad was decimated by injury.
I actually don’t think we’ll see the best from Mount until next season at this point. It’s just so difficult to hit your peak when you’re constantly starting and stopping. I don’t doubt that we’ll see flashes of his quality upon his return this term, though forcing his way into the side, particularly with Kobbie Mainoo’s current form, is not going to be easy.
