Manchester United will be looking to continue their excellent run of form with a win away at newly promoted Welsh side Cardiff City. The hosts have spent well this summer, bringing in Steven Caulker and Gary Medel. Whereas United’s only new signing Marouane Fellaini will be looking to make an impression today, as he looks set to start due to injuries in the squad.
David Moyes’ side are unbeaten in five league games, and after an excellent win at home to Arsenal last time out confidence in the squad will certainly be high. Cardiff also won their last game 1-0, and that was against fierce Welsh rivals Swansea, however todays opponents sit just two points above the relegation zone, but will no doubt be a tough test for our lads today.
KO: 16:00 BST
Venue: Cardiff City Stadium
Date: 24th November 2013
Manchester United go into this one with no fewer than seven players potentially missing, including the key trio of Robin van Persie, Nemanja Vidic and Michael Carrick. Brazilian right-back Rafael will face a late fitness test on an ankle injury, and Danny Welbeck, who won’t need surgery on his troublesome knee will probably play no part today either. Phil Jones will also miss out.
Cardiff also have a couple of late fitness tests of their own, with Peter Odemwingie and Andreas Cornelius both facing a tough task of being fit in time for kick-off today. Rudy Gestede and Aaron Gunnarsson are both certain to miss out.
Have a look at our predicted Manchester United line-up here.
Despite Manchester United’s injury problems in the key midfield area, Moyes’ men should still have enough to overcome Cardiff. The key battle for me will be Gary Medel vs Marouane Fellaini, and if the big Belgian can get the better of the Chilean, it should set the tone for our lads to go on and hopefully take all three points.
Match Prediction: Cardiff 0-2 United
