Match Preview: City vs United

David Moyes will get his first taste of the Manchester derby today, as United travel to the Etihad locked on seven points with local rivals Manchester City. Both sides would’ve preferred a much better start to the new season, but with no clear Premier League leader at the moment, the title is still up for grabs for no fewer than six teams.

With Manchester United having considerably tougher fixtures, David Moyes will certainly be the happier manager in Manchester at the moment. Its also worth pointing out that our side is much more settled than City’s, with Pellegrini making a few changes for each game.

Venue: Etihad Stadium
Date: 22nd September 2013

Manchester United go into the game without any injury problems, and just a few players who may be lacking match fitness. Danny Welbeck, Phil Jones and Rafael have all recently started training again, with the latter of the three lacking match fitness.

City have a few injury doubts, David Silva returned to training on Friday but he is expected to have to settle for a spot on the bench. The home side will still be without new signing Martin Demichelis,  through a knee injury, also Gael Clichy and Micah Richards look set to miss out with a hip injury and hamstring problem respectively.

The key man for Manchester United will be Wayne Rooney. The #10 has scored 10 goals in Manchester derbies, which is more than any other United player. He’s in great form at the moment and if he continues that today, we’ll have a great chance of coming away with at least a point.

City’s key man is Yaya Toure. Similarly to Rooney he put in an excellent performance for his side in Europe this week, and capped it off with a wonderful goal. The 30-year old’s battle with Marouane Fellaini will be very interesting, and whoever wins that duel will probably end up on the winning side.

The Reds must go there without fear and attack City from the off. If the home crowd get nervous, the players will sense that and United will take advantage. Right now I believe we have the better team so there is no reason why we cannot go there and take all three points.

Score Prediction: Man City 0-1 United
