Manchester United will be looking to make it four wins in a row against Martin Jol’s Fulham side this afternoon. Despite winning last weekend United still sit in eighth place in the table, two points behind title favourites Manchester City and eight points behind current leaders Arsenal.
Some of our rivals are guaranteed to drop points though, as Arsenal take on Liverpool. Tottenham and Everton also play each other, both of which are currently above us. A win here is absolutely vital if we want to start making progress up the table.

Venue: Craven Cottage
Date: 2nd November 2013
Last night Manchester United were hit with the news that midfield maestro Michael Carrick is a major doubt for the game due to a calf problem. This means that the struggling-for-form Marouane Fellaini is almost guaranteed a start, so a big performance is needed from the Belgian. Danny Welbeck will also miss the game due to fluid on his knee, he’s expected to return on Tuesday when United take on Sociedad.
Fulham have a few injury problems of their own. Brede Hangeland has nerve problems in his leg and he’s expected to sit this one out. Also Hugo Rodallega will miss the game due to a groin problem.
See our predicted line-ups here.
The only team United could overtake if other results go their way is Manchester City who currently sit two points in front of us. We’ll certainly catch up on some teams above us though if we can get a win so the incentive is certainly there.
Match Prediction: Fulham 1-2 United
I think we’ll scrape through with a 2-1 win with Wayne Rooney scoring a brace.
“Also currently above us are both Tottenham and Spurs who also face off against each other.” That will be an interesting game.
