Match Preview: Manchester United v West Ham United

United are going to have to get their act together as they come up against West Ham today after their shock 5-3 defeat against Leicester City last Sunday. The Reds however are going to have it all against them as a defensive crisis leaves them struggling with numbers at the back.

Louis Van Gaal has told the press that U21 captain Tom Thorpe and his U21 team mate Paddy McNair will be in the squad today with one of them likely to start as Van Gaal rules out Daley Blind playing at the back.

West Ham have had a decent start to the season with 2 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses. Most notably the Hammers gained 3 points last weekend against one of United’s bitterest rivals Liverpool. Big Sam has invested well in the transfer window for The Hammers by gaining the services of Enner Valencia, Cheikhou Kouyate, Alex Song, Diafra Sakho, Morgan Amalfitano, Aaron Cresswell, Carl Jenkinson and Mauro Zarate. In my opinion United are going to have to be on top form to beat West Ham who definitely have a potentially fantastic squad.

United’s start to the season has definitely been a shock for all fans. Who knows what the problem is with the side, transfers bedding in, injury problems or is LVG’s philosophy not working out yet. All I know is whatever is wrong with the side needs to be put behind us and carry on with the rest of the season and make United feared again

Last Meeting

West Ham United 0-2 Manchester United

The last time these two sides met United came out the victors with Wayne grabbing both goals and one of them being one of his best as he stood at the half way line, looked uo to see Adrian slightly of his line and decided to hit it on the half volley to score from about 50 yards.

Score Prediction

Manchester United 3-1 West Ham United

United need to string together a few wins and what a perfect time to start a run of form than today against West Ham. At the minute i’m not overly confident in the squad due to the up and down performances this season, but hopefully they will put that right today and begin to move forward this season.
