Manchester United have been flawless in pre-season. Credit to that goes to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his coaching staff, who have given this talented squad of players a renewed confidence and belief.
What better way to continue the friendly-action than with a game against the Baby Faced Assassin’s home-town team, Kristiansund? This could well provide Solskjaer with the perfect opportunity to get a look at the younger members of his squad.
Kick-off time: 18:00 UK Time.
Stadium: Ullevaal Stadium.
TV Channel: MUTV.
In a true fairytale story, Solskjaer’s 19-year-old son Noah could well make his professional debut with his father in the opposing dugout, which is just one of many things to look for during the game tomorrow night.
There is no Romelu Lukaku or Matteo Darmian who are fit but haven’t travelled, while Eric Bailly is injured and he’ll miss the start of the season.
As eluded to earlier, expect a youthful team. I’d love to see more Mason Greenwood, Tahith Chong and Angel Gomes as their connection on the football field is an almost telepathic one. Midfielder Fred needs minutes, while several faces will be looking to play their way into the team for our Premier League opener against Chelsea.
As expected, the Reds are heavy favourites for this one albeit a game away from home. For those that like a gamble, perhaps this is one to stick in a heavy favourites acca.
As for picking first goalscorers, I’d wait until the team news is announced, although Greenwood to score at any time has to be a decent bet, right?
Match Prediction: Kristiansund 0-4 Manchester United.
Whatever team Solskjaer puts out, this is a game that United should win, and win comfortably. We’re more than capable of running up the score here and further building the confidence before the serious stuff starts in just under two week’s time.
