Match Preview: PSV Eindhoven vs Manchester United

Midweek Champions League nights are back for Manchester United and the Red Devils will look to do so in style against the challengers in the form of PSV Eindhoven, Wolfsburg and CSKA Moscow. First stop – a homecoming for Memphis Depay: PSV away.

United despatched Belgium side Club Brugge in a 7:1 two-legged tie in the qualification stages, which suggests that the they  are ready to kick back into European football with a bang.

The Devils also enter the clash on the back of morale boosting win against Liverpool. Despite the encouraging start of the season, questions are still asked about the rigid tactical setup and lack of chances up front. Wayne Rooney’s absence is also aiding the worries. However impressive an stunning debut by Martial gives the fans something to look forward to.

The hosts, unlike United do not have problems scoring goals with fourteen in five games. Luuk de Jong has filled in the scoring shoes of Memphis with fantastic hat-trick over the weekend. United will not rush their captain Wayne Rooney back with the hamstring injury which ruled him out of the clash with Liverpool. Andres Perreira and James Wilson will travel with the squad looking to make their first appearances for the season.

As for PSV, Cocu could recall defender Jetro Willems after injury. He was rested for the club’s 6-0 win away to Cambuur over the weekend. Attacking midfield Adam Maher will be subject to a late fitness test.
