Match Preview: Southampton vs Manchester United – prediction, team news, odds

Manchester United head to the South Coast today, to take on a struggling Southampton side who could well dismiss their manager, Mark Hughes, with a loss.

For Jose Mourinho, it’s an excellent opportunity to get his team back on track. The Red Devils have been struggling this term and the inconsistency from match-to-match has been clear for all to see. You’re just not sure what United are going to turn up…

Kick-off time: 17:30 GMT
Stadium: St Mary’s Stadium
TV Channel: BT Sport
Referee: Kevin Friend

Team News

Alexis Sanchez has been ruled out with a hamstring injury. The man from Chile will miss the remainder of 2019, ending a drab first year for him at United. He was the only player whom Mourinho ruled out of this one.

There was some better news for fans of Diogo Dalot, however. The young man from Portugal is all set for his Premier League debut, which explains why he didn’t play against Young Boys in midweek. I simply cannot wait to see him in action.

Match Odds

Southampton @ 3/1

Draw @ 5/2

Manchester United @ 10/11

Prediction: Southampton 0-2 Manchester United

The Red Devils have been consistently inconsistent this season, but I think the lads will buck up and get a big away win on the road. The game itself will be a scrappy affair, but I fancy both Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial to get on the score-sheet and secure three points.
