2014 Was a year to forget for Manchester United, but Louis van Gaal will be hoping for their rich vein of form to continue on New Years Day against Stoke City this lunchtime. Three points here would kick off 2015 in style, before attentions turn to the FA Cup on Sunday.
This is the first game of a good-looking run of fixtures [on paper] for Manchester United, with no games against the so called ‘bigger clubs’ until mid-March.
Injury News
The injuries are still persisting in the Manchester United squad, with several first-teamers still missing. Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Marouane Fellaini are all out until the New Year, as is Angel di Maria. Adnan Januzaj could return after overcoming an illness, whereas Ander Herrera is expected to be available. Antonio Valencia is rated as 50/50 with a groin problem.

Last Meeting: Manchester United 2-1 Stoke City
The two sides met just four weeks ago, with Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata scoring the goals which gave United all three points in a dominant performance. Louis van Gaal will be looking for the same again here.
Score Prediction: Stoke City 1-2 Manchester United
United should have enough to sneak a win here. They played extremely well in the first half against Spurs and a fast start again should be enough to down Mark Hughes’ side.
