United’s season continues after their shock defeat against Swansea, the reds have to bounce back against Gus Poyet’s Sunderland. Since the 2-1 defeat to Swansea, United fans have been asking questions of the board and in my opinion rightly so. The Glazers and Ed Woodward responded to the grief they have received by signing energetic centre-back Marcos Rojo from Sporting.
Rojo is a great addition to the squad with bags of potential but the reds still need more. This week, United have been heavily linked with a move for Angel di Maria, but still more signings are needed.
Sunderland started the season off with a 2-2 draw against West Brom. The took the lead through a Lee Cattermole screamer but then fell behind after Saido Berahino bagged a brace, one from the penalty spot. Sunderland we’re saved by Swedish international Sebastien Larsson equalised with 5 minutes to go.
Today’s opponents have also invested nicely in the transfer market. They’ve brought in Jack Rodwell from our big rivals Manchester City, and also added Patrick van Aanholt from Chelsea. They’re looking to continue spending as well, as they hope to add Fabio Borini, or even Danny Welbeck up front.

Ryan Giggs’ only defeat as Caretaker Manager after Moyes’ departure sparked Sunderland’s survival bid from an extremely difficult position to recover from but they were successful. A Sebastian Larsson finish separated the two teams last time out, hopefully things will be different on Sunday.

United have been hit hard with an already large list of injuries which now includes: Ander Herrera (3 weeks) Marouane Fellaini (TBC) Jesse Lingard (TBC) Jonny Evans (Doubt) Luke Shaw (3 weeks) Antonio Valencia (Doubt) Danny Welbeck (Doubt) Anderson (TBC) and Michael Carrick (6 weeks). Also,to add insult to injury Marcos Rojo hasn’t received a work permit yet.

Score Prediction
Sunderland 1-2 Manchester United
I’m going to be honest, I am not overly confident about the game purely due to the fact that we got beat by Swansea last week and we haven’t strengthened because Rojo can’t play and we have a lot more injuries. However Robin Van Persie should return for the game which should give the whole squad a lift.
