The margin at the top of the Premier League can be extended to a massive 18 points with 21 remaining if we win today, meaning one more win could seal the title for United. Since losing to Madrid in Europe, we haven’t hit anywhere near our best form, but we’ll need to if we want to win tonight.
Both sides have had a lot of preparation time for this one, with City not playing for 9 days compared to our 7, so both sides will be fit and ready to go come kick-off time.
Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney look set to partner up front, with Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez starting up top for the away side. These are probably the four best strikers in the country so I expect there to be a fair few goals in tonights game.
Team News
Wayne Rooney is set for a return to the United line-up after missing the last couple of games due to a groin problem, Rafael also looks in line for a return. There are minor doubts about the fitness of Vidic and Evans who are recovering from knocks, theres a slight chance one, or even both may feature.
City will be without Micah Richards and Maicon, leaving them down to the bare bones at the full-back position. The game may come too soon for Jack Rodwell, but Samir Nasri and David Silva look fit to play after they both suffered knocks recently.
Form Guide
United are the form side in the Premier League at the moment, having won the last six league games on the bounce. In that time we’ve scored 11 goals and conceded 0. David de Gea needs to go the first hour of the derby without conceding to beat Peter Schmeichel’s record for longest time without shipping a goal.
City come into the game in decent form themselves, although they’ve only won half of their last six league games in a spell which has seen them lose to Southampton and Everton. They’ve scored 10 and conceded 7 in that period.
