Match Preview: United vs Swansea (FA Cup)

After a disappointing yet unlucky loss in the league last time out, attentions now switch to cup football for the next couple of games. First up are Swansea in the FA Cup third round, a side who are sure to pose a huge threat under the floodlights of Old Trafford this evening.

Our home form has been the problem so far this season, with Moyes’ style of play much more suited to away games. Swansea will come to Old Trafford wanting to play football, and will probably out-pass us for the most part – something thats happened far too often so far this season.

KO: 16:30 BST
Venue: Old Trafford
Date: 5th January 2014

At the moment it feels like as soon as we gain players back from injury we lose another two. At present we have seven first team players out injured; Wayne Rooney and Rafael are both missing with groin injuries, Robin van Persie has a hip problem, Ashley Young a shoulder injury, Phil Jones a knee problem, Marouane Fellaini has just had wrist surgery and Nani is having hamstring troubles.

As for Swansea, they have a few problems of their own, their star player Michu is missing until February with a foot problem, whereas ex-Valencia winger Pablo Hernandez has a hamstring injury. Goalkeeper Michel Vorm is missing, as are Nathan Dyer and Garry Monk.

See our predicted line-ups here.

It will be an extremely tricky game today. United will be resting a few key names, and Swansea will be full of confidence. I expect we’ll sneak through though, hopefully Javier Hernandez can end his goalscoring drought.

Match prediction: United 2-1 Swansea
