Date: 7th April 2012
Venue: Old Trafford
Capacity: 75,811
Referee: Lee Mason
Probable starting XIs
Manchester United: De Gea, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra; Young, Carrick, Scholes, Valencia; Rooney, Welbeck
Queens Park Rangers: Kenny; Onouha, Ferdinand, Hill, Taiwo; Taarabt, Diakite, Derry, Barton, Mackie; Zamora
We may receive a timely boost with Nani a possibility to be in the matchday squad, Fergie said in his press conference yesterday that he will rotate the team over the next few games as they come thick and fast. A win is vital against QPR though so I fancy us to play the strongest team we have available to pile the pressure on City.
If we come out firing, this match could be any score-line, an early goal would be nice and an emphatic win could really help out where goal difference is concerned. We must make sure we keep our heads at the back as QPR do have some quality up top, Bobby Zamora can play the lone-striker role extremely well and he will be backed up by flair from Taarabt and work rate from Jamie Mackie.
Men to watch
Antonio Valencia: The right winger has been United’s best attacking threat for the last month, I expect him to give the QPR left-back a torrid afternoon
Adel Taarabt: He is such a mixed bag of tricks, but on his day he really can be a handful, his mood could depend on the outcome of this match
Last meeting: Manchester United came out 2-0 winners back in December, when a first minute Wayne Rooney header and a fine solo effort from Michael Carrick meant all three points came back to Manchester.
My Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 QPR
We should win this match fairly comfortably if we play to our potential, the pressure will all be on our noisy neighbours then and I fancy them to drop points away at Arsenal later in the day.
