Amad Diallo looks all set to be playing his football away from Man United this season.
After a stunning headed goal against AC Milan in the Europa League, it felt like Amad Diallo had arrived at Manchester United.
While it’s true this young man is immensely talented, he still has some ways to go in terms of developing and honing his talents.
With the arrival of both Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo now confirmed, minutes at Old Trafford will have been hard to come by for Amad.
Hence, it looks like our young Ivory Coast star will be spending this season out on loan.
The story comes from Fabrizio Romano, who stated that it’s just a ‘matter of hours’ before the United first-teamer will depart the club on loan for Feyenoord.
It’s just a case of sorting out the final paperwork deals, with the Dutch outfit wanting to announce the deal in the ‘next hours’. In terms of length, it’ll be a season-long loan for Amad, until June 2022.
It’s very easy to forget that Amad is still so young. Although he has been in the first-team fold pretty much ever since he arrived, it always felt like obtaining regular starts would be nigh-on impossible this season.
For Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, it was probably a pretty easy decision to make. Diallo is blatantly too good to play U23 football, while Feyenoord represents a great opportunity to go out and play every week at a high level.
I’ve always been a fan of these loan moves abroad. It’ll give Diallo a chance to experience a different footballing culture, while he’ll no doubt come back a better player because of the experience.
Now, it’s down to Feyenoord to give Amad the opportunity, then it’s up to the player to take that chance with both hands. Remember, these loan moves only work if the player is doing enough to warrant regular starts.
