Matthew Olosunde to leave Man United this summer: report

Manchester United’s summer clearout has begun. After the Red Devils decided to let James Wilson walk away for free – another youngster is seemingly on his way out.

According to the usually reliable ESPN, the Red Devils have decided against offering a new contract to United States international, Matthew Olosunde.

The 21-year-old is set to leave Old Trafford on a free this summer, with Olosunde searching for a new club – preferably one in Europe rather than a move back home to the US.

Olosunde was highly regarded at United, particularly by Jose Mourinho, who included the right-back in a couple of match-day squads during his debut season as Red Devils manager.

Since then, though, he has drifted somewhat out of the limelight, and you always got the feeling he was never going to make it at Old Trafford so in that aspect, United letting him leave does make sense.

Olosunde is still young enough to make an impact within the game, and I don’t doubt that he’ll get picked up by a professional English club in some way, shape or form. Personally, I’d like to see him head to a mid-table Championship side where he can play regularly and begin to hone his talents.

All the best, Matthew!
