Mauricio Pochettino explains why Jose Mourinho is an ‘unbelievable’ manager

Manchester United are in a must-win situation. Jose Mourinho will be feeling the pressure. On the flip side, Tottenham Hotspur comes to town in buoyant mood. Full of confidence.

The self-proclaimed Special One has come in for some spectacular criticism recently, largely following the shock defeat away at Brighton & Hove Albion last time out. Tonight, though, the Red Devils have the perfect opportunity to bounce back.

Before the eagerly anticipated encounter, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has heaped the praise on his opposite number, labelling him an unbelievable manager whom he learnt so much from.

“For every single manager who is younger than him, he was an inspiration,” Pochettino said, per the Manchester Evening News. “Of course. I took a lot of things from him. So many things. He is an unbelievable manager.”

“I am younger than him, of course. The circumstances that happen with me, that happen with other managers, they will happen, it is up and down.

“He is an inspirational manager for a manager like me. I have a very good relationship with Mou from when I was a manager of Espanyol and I have full respect for him and the club.”

We tend to forget just how good Mourinho is. We’re looking at a boss who has won top titles wherever he has been. For another brilliant manager in Pochettino to come out and laud the Portuguese tells you just how big of an influence he has been all across the beautiful game.

Sure, it may not have been the ideal start to the campaign, but we’ve still got a world-class coach in the United dugout. Let’s get behind him, try to enjoy him while we can. Who knows, it’s still early on in the season with much left to play for. Let’s not push the panic button yet.
