Medical complete, personal terms agreed, Man United agree deal to sign defender: report

Manchester United are having an excellent couple of days, as Diogo Dalot has completed his Manchester United medical, while also agreeing personal terms with the club.

That’s according to the ever-reliable Craig Norwood, who adds that an official announcement will take place in due course. The 19-year-old full-back looks to become the Red Devils’ second signing, following a deal for Brazil midfielder Fred; another transfer story that Norwood broke.

It certainly seems as though United aren’t hanging around this summer, with Jose Mourinho clearly identifying players who he feels will improve the squad, who simply have to be preparing for a title challenge next time around.

The Dalot acquisition is a useful one. Not only can the man from Portugal play as a right-back, but he can also be deployed on the left-hand side should the situation arise. In fact, it was over on the left where he made his debut for Porto; filling in for the injured Alex Telles.

At 6’0, the 19-year-old is a tall player who doesn’t shirk a physical battle. Despite his large stature, Dalot is also immensely quick – which is an absolute must in the modern-day game; particularly for full-backs.

It’s unlikely that he’ll come in and get the starting job right away, but who knows just how good he’ll be within a few years. I simply cannot wait to see this lad get started.
