Manchester United are closing in on the signing of French-born Moroccan international, Mehdi Benatia. The 27-year old was at the heart of an excellent defence for AS Roma last season, and Manchester United badly need a world-class defender before the transfer window slams shut at the start of Steptember.
The news comes courtesy of Sky Sports News’ Jim White, who claims that the defender is currently on his way to Manchester to hold talks with United’s hierarchy.
Its no secret that Manchester United need centre-backs, and fast. With just three senior centre-backs available, it is a real problem area for Louis van Gaal. Tyler Blackett filled in against Swansea today and on the whole did ok, but a world class talent is needed.
