Michael Carrick heaps praise on Fred’s Man United improvement

Manchester United Football Club have had themselves a serious problem in midfield for at least a few seasons now, with the Old Trafford outfit struggling for any sort of consistency.

A big-money move for Paul Pogba hasn’t worked out, while Bruno Fernandes is definitely going to need time to adapt and adjust to his new surroundings.

Another player who required patience was Brazilian midfielder Fred. Eighteen months later, the former Shakhtar Donetsk man is constantly improving. Now, he’s amongst one of the first names on the team-sheet.

After putting in some quality displays in the big games, Fred has been the talk of the town amongst supporters. Now, United coach Michael Carrick has rightly heaped praise on the ever-improving 26-year-old.

The scoop comes from the official @ManUtd Twitter account, with Carrick labelling Fred ‘fantastic’ while praising his perseverance and desire.

Honestly, it would have been oh so easy for Fred to wilt under the pressure and crumble like several Red Devils before him. Instead, he has stepped up when his teammates need him the most. Now, he’s beginning to look like a player worthy of a £50million price-tag.

You’d imagine performance-levels will only further improve when Scott McTominay makes his return from injury, too. Now that Fernandes will take some of the attacking burden, that’ll also work in Fred’s favour.

Hopefully, Fred will put in a top-drawer display, helping United to a much-needed three-points against Chelsea this evening.
