Michael Carrick set for early comeback from injury?

Manchester United’s midfield maestro Michael Carrick could potentially hand David Moyes a huge boost in coming back from injury earlier than expected. The Daily Mail claim that the 32-year old has resumed light training following an operation on a troublesome achilles problem that was supposedly set to keep him sidelined for up to six weeks.

If Carrick is back in light training now, he could potentially be back a couple of weeks earlier than expected, so the home game against Newcastle United on 7th December could be a realistic return for the England international.

Michael Carrick is also expected to pen a new two-and-a-half year Manchester United contract within the coming weeks, and it is also believed that the contract will have the option of a further twelve months which could see him at the club until he turns 36. The deal won’t see a wage increase on his current £3.5m a year deal, but it’d be excellent news if he commits his long-term future to United as soon as possible.
