Michael Carrick set to be offered new Manchester United contract

Michael Carrick has turned into somewhat of the forgotten man at Old Trafford this season, after an unfortunate ligament injury he suffered way back in July. The 33-year old midfielder is yet to feature in any match under Louis van Gaal, but according to The Express, he is set to be offered a new Manchester United contract.

Carrick has often been our best midfielder over the past three years, and now you struggle to see how he’ll break into the team if everyone is fit. The likes of Ander Herrera, Daley Blind and Angel Di Maria have certainly taken their chances in Carrick’s absence, and Carrick will now have to work even harder to break back into the United XI.

Its great to see the club rewarding Carrick. He more than deserves a new deal, and no doubt he’ll be able to come in and do a job when called upon.

Carrick is back in light training, and should be available for selection after the international break.
