Michael Carrick sidelined for 10-12 weeks

Manchester United have this evening confirmed that Michael Carrick will be out of action for 10-12 weeks after undergoing surgery this morning.

At the end of today’s press conference, Louis van Gaal revealed that Michael Carrick was injured and that it was a ‘big blow’. When further questioned on the severity, he said he will be out for “a long time”.

The club have now confirmed that the 32 year old England midfielder sustained Ankle ligament damage and has this morning had surgery on it, meaning he will be out for 10-12 weeks. The earliest we can expect Carrick back in action will be the end of September.

Following this injury you would think that would increase further the need to sign another central midfielder before the start of the season, with Juventus’ Arturo Vidal being the name on every bodies lips.
