AC Milan have made their intentions clear. They want to sign Diogo Dalot on a permanent deal from Manchester United.
When Diogo Dalot arrived at Old Trafford in 2018, he came with promise aplenty. Jose Mourinho thought he was signing a youngster who’d go on to achieve great things. That may well be the case, but probably not under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
From day one, you were given the impression that the Baby Faced Assassin didn’t see Dalot as part of his plans, which is why a summer loan move to Milan came as no real surprise.
Well, after a good start in the Italian capital, it seems as though Milan already have long-term plans with Dalot. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the club ‘absolutely intend’ to sit down with United, and sign the £19million-star Dalot on a permanent deal.
It is stressed that, as of right now, Dalot is set to return to Old Trafford at the season’s end. The only way that can be avoided is if Milan ‘re-discuss the formula with their home club (United) throughout the season’.
Again, you’d imagine United will be willing to enter discussions about letting Dalot go. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the first-choice right-back, while Brandon Williams is an excellent back-up to have.
We’ve always been pretty clear about Dalot. Injuries definitely haven’t helped his case while the talent is pretty obvious for all to see. It’s just that United have headed in a different direction since his arrival. That doesn’t make him a bad player, rather Dalot just doesn’t fit in with what United are looking for at this juncture.
In terms of a fee, you’d imagine United are looking to recoup at least the £19million it cost to sign Diogo Dalot. Whether that’s possible remains to be seen…
Personally, I’d let him go as he’s not shown anywhere near enough quality during his two-year stay in Manchester.
