Milinkovic-Savic in process of sealing Man United switch, £67m deal practically done: report

Manchester United have themselves some serious midfield problems. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is yet to replace either Marouane Fellaini or Ander Herrera in that area of the field.

Well, the problems could get worse before they get better, with Paul Pogba’s future still up in the air. Apparently, according to La Repubblica in Italy, Real Madrid have ‘decided to accelerate’ their interest in the Frenchman, which leaves the Red Devils in the hunt for a replacement.

Apparently, that ‘operation’ is well underway, with the 20-time Premier League winners identifying Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as the man they want…

The report claims that the Serbian is ‘in the process’ of moving to Old Trafford, on a ‘rich’ five-year contract. Furthermore, an agreement between the two clubs is ‘practically done’ with the 24-year-old set to cost €75m (£67m) before bonuses and add-ons.

La Repubblica have gone big with this story. They’re pretty much saying a deal is now a case of when rather than if, and it’ll be interesting to see how this one plays out over the next fortnight or so.

Time is running out quickly for United and there’s no doubting Milinkovic-Savic’s talent. Is he the right player for Solskjaer’s system? At such a high price? That certainly remains to be seen…
