Manchester United’s interest in striker Alvaro Morata has been well documented. The talented 24-year-old who plays for Real Madrid has had to settle for minutes from off of the bench at times this season, and that must have been quite frustrating for him.
I guess that boiling point for him must have been when he was benched for the Champions League final in Cardiff, as his side beat Juventus 4-1 as he watched on from the sidelines. Now, he has a decision to make.
His agent, Juanma Lopez, has been speaking to the media about the situation. Lopez has made no secret that his client is unhappy at the fact he hasn’t been playing much.
Morata obviously wants to be more important to the side he is currently at, and the man who looks after the Spaniard has confirmed that he will be making a definitive decision regarding his future in the coming days.
“He does not want to do a season like this again. It was a great season, but he wants to play more.” Juanma Lopez told Foot Mercato, as per talkSPORT.
“Alvaro is a player who wants to play a more important role. He wants to play more. Which is normal for an attacker who has scored 19 goals.”
“The player will take a clear and definitive decision in the coming days. I have not yet met with the representatives from Real Madrid.”
I’d suspect that right now, Morata is solely focused on international duty for his country. They played last night (with Morata scoring a brilliant header), and they take to the field once again on Sunday. After that, I’d imagine that we’ll hear more concrete news in regards to a potential transfer.
I’d absolutely love to see him become a Red Devil. His game looks tailor-made to be a good fit for Premier League football. He’s quick yet strong, can score with his head and he can be a real bag of tricks. I fully trust Mourinho’s judgement on the young man, and I just hope the club can pull it off because prising him away from Los Blancos will not be easy.
